photoshop can get you a driving license!

23 Oct

true! i had a very bad experience with the vellore traffic police today. the inspector told me to get a licence fast and i obeyed him by getting myself a license fast, how fast?… 1 hour exactly!

that was easy. the moment i returned to hostel, i borrowed my friend’s license, scaned it into my lappy and opened the photoshop. and ½ hour later, by the time i closed Photoshop, my driving license was ready. don’t go by what looks in that one above. except for my name, nothing else in right about me there!!

so far so good

22 Oct

finally the Google day. i had been counting days down for today as it was the day of Google’s campus visit for recruitment. i was preparing all the week like for a supplementary exam. this is one of the rarest moments when you see me study!

the selection process started with a written test with 3/4 questions on the general internet stuff which anyone who spends a decent time on internet can answer. the other 1/4 was aptitude. the good thing is that i nailed the test and the bad thing is, everyone else did that too! i donno why, but i still have a good feeling about this. they said that it would take about two weeks time for them to correct the papers and get back (hopefully, with a good news for me). later at the pre-placement talk, they told about the company and the job profile which only made me slip deeper into love with Google. then there was a little Q/A session where i won a flashy Google badge!!!

if can’t convince, confuse!

21 Oct

is what i followed in my second review of that freaky project i wrote about the other day. it wasn’t tough at all as i was myself very confused with my project. some said the project was right and some said otherwise. i could not decide on one thing to explain about the project.

i had many things revolving in my mind when i started my presentation to the panel. so i threw up everything that was in my mind and… yup, it worked! i convinced  the panel members that the project was correct but complicated and that settled all the freaky stuff that was bugging me from a week. seems, it also made a way for an A!

going google!

20 Oct

not a clue what that title means but what i mean to say here is that the mighty Google is coming to our college for campus recruitment in a couple of days and as a fan, i can’t be more excited. i read the job profile. its is the user operations department that fights the frauds in various Google products to make them efficient and it doesn’t ask for proficiency in programming skills which is something i am terrible at. moreover the job profile states that the students must have experience in SEO and related activities. now thats a good news for me as i have some knowledge of the SEO operations from the webbie stuff i did all of last summer.

so for the first time in years, i have opened my first year books and dusted them for a read. there is absolutely no way i would have opened those things if it wasn’t for Google! i just hope i have a good day that day. you know, i even thought of a status update if i get into this job: my job is to make the best… even better!

brindavanam review: wanted to hate, but loved it

15 Oct

i din’t count how many flies flew inside-out my mouth watching samantha in the first song (such was the theater!). gosh, she was looking smoking hot. one could give her a perfect 10 for what she was. then i din’t see her for a very long time after that but the movie adds up for that loss. it had a good story line and it worked perfectly. kajal was good both in looks and performance. prakash raj and sri hari did great. comedy in second half was nice particularly after brahmanandam enters. the movie brindavanam is definitely a full fledged entertainer. i am not a fan of jr ntr but i should admit that the movie is really good and is certainly the best that came in recent times.

we went to the cafe’ coffee day on the banglore highway after the movie. the place was great but not so was the coffee! i liked it only after emptying five sachets of sugar in my cup. i liked the tag line of the brand, “anything can happen over coffee”. now i don’t know what they mean by that but something really did happen. we fell short of cash for the bill and the cards won’t work! then what?, i had to wait there as my friend went all the way back to chittor to draw some cash from the atm. started back to vellore at 1 am in the chilling wind and made to college at around 2:30 am. great night!!!

freaky project

Intrusion Detection in Wireless Sensor Networks is all i am seeing, hearing, dreaming and even smelling about!

sorry, i din’t introduce you to my project. meet ID in WSN, my 6 credit project. two more important people in the story are my project partner and our guide. all this started the day me and my partner decided to do our 7th semester project on intrusion detection (bad day it was!). we finished almost half the project only to realize  that its was all wrong. well, that part came from our guide!

since then it became a full day routine for me and my partner to hunt down all the people who did any similar project. i extended my search even to forum discussions on internet. till the moment, we have found few people who did a project like ours in the past. but guess what? they all did in the way we started in. i don’t really understand who’s wrong… the people i met or our guide or my time!!!

that’s weird!

09 Oct
i got a call from an anonymous person this evening. she said she was my fan from my blog, funny right? well, for me it was little scary too as her opening line had my family name which not many people know about. so who could she be? i am guessing she is being helped by someone of my family trying to play some prank on me. calling and asking for friendship… classic, never gets old!

look maam, if you are reading this i want you to know that i like pranks too but not when played on me. if there is anything i have done to you in the past and this is some sort of revenge about that… please don’t copy mine, try a different one!!

CAM, i will miss you!

09 Oct

met you for first time around august,2007 and ever since you showed up twice every semester uninvited. i was serious about you in the beginning but later on you were no more than a surprise test. there were days in first year when i started preparation a week in advance. but gradually that preparation time decreased. from a week’s time it slipped to a day’s in second year, an hour’s in the third and to a mere walk’s time from hostel to the exam hall in fourth year.

there were even times when i wrote one subject for another and realized it only after coming out of exam hall. there were also times when i bunked you just for a good night sleep and even had to sacrifice you for some movie’s first day release. hope you understand. it all worth it!

frankly, i think there was never any point in even writing you at all. you hardly ever gave me marks in two digits, i never passed you after first year and my parents still think that CAM marks are out of 20!! whatsoever, i am sorry for treating you so carelessly! i guess it was mutual. nice meeting you CAM, i am gonna miss you!!!

almost another

08 Oct

huh… not even a long time since 26, august when i wrote one exam for another and it almost turned out to be the same today. it was cam-1 then and now its cam-2 this time. from that day on, i started seeing the name of the subject on the question paper first, without fail. i did that even today but seems the m-tech students have a subject with the same name. we had the subject called SPM and so did the m-tech students who shared the exam hall with us. though both of us had the same subject, their syllabus was different from ours. i dint know about this before. i picked up their question paper and found some numerical problems on the paper. that was weird, as we had only theory for syllabus. still as i prepare only half the portion, i almost started off.

but lucky for my habit of a brief discussion with my neighbor in the beginning of every exam, i got to know that i had actually picked a wrong question paper before i started. now, i learnt that just checking the name of the subject isn’t enough!

khaleja review: i am feeling like god!

07 Oct
says so the prince in khaleja… or should i say mahesh khaleja! the talk i heard about the movie this morning was very bad. almost everyone dumped it. can you believe there were people who even compared it with pavan kalyan’s puli. well, i don’t know about you but i surely can’t believe that!! there can not be a worse movie than puli (fingers crossed on brindavanam!).

call me an odd one one out but i feel no shame in admitting the movie is good. infact, i liked the movie very much. may be it was because of the very low expectations i had on it. all i was looking for in the movie were trivikram’s punching dialogs and he did not disappoint at all. there was enough comedy. mahesh looks awesome and perhaps in his best appearance. anushka was as pretty as always. it was good to see prakash raj after a long time. the costumes of mahesh and anushka were great. you must have already heard about the music.
but there was certainly one thing that stuck me. apart from the concept of being called a god, mahesh talks a lot in the movie and with a totally different slang. after all his silent roles in previous movies, you want to see him open his mouth and speak something but when finally does… you wish he din’t!!!

took an additional after 2 years!!!

06 Oct

i don’t clearly remember when i took the last additional in an exam. probably it was in the first year and now after a long time, another in the final year. it is the first time in two years, can you believe?

since i blew the cam-1, i am putting an extra effort for this cam-2. still, i never thought i would be taking an additional at all; it just happened. i was writing and writing when i suddenly realized i was out of paper and i said “maam… additional please”, all the class froze!!!

robo review: technically good; logically stupid

02 Oct

though after giving a tough fight for robo‘s first day’s tickets, i could only settled for the second day’s matinee. the talk about the movie on first day here was very confusing! some said its just average while many said it was fantastic. if what many said was right, the ratings of the movie should be more than just 3½. so i thought, to get a clear picture, i had to do draw it myself!

i feel the movie is a huge success in technical terms. it had high technical values that shankar carved out perfectly. still, the movie missed something. when i tried to compare it with some movies like i-robo and stealth, i found that though it fits in perfectly with them technically, it doesn’t really have a sound logic.

you see, when you make a fiction, you should have a strong base that supports that fiction. robo misses exactly that. the movie is supposed to be a science fiction describing how a robot with feelings deals with everything but it has got something even more than that. every hero or even super hero has limitations and should. its looks good only that way. but rajani seems to be able to do just anything in the movie. that won’t make sense logically. the last half an hour was off the limits. i love physics and shankar broke many laws of physics in the movie. now, how do you expect me to like it?!
