first day of work, gone wrong!

28 Jul

long time since last post on the blog. it definitely wasn’t for the lack of stories but my laziness might explain that! however, first day of office!

usually by the time i wake up, my family finishes their lunch! so starting the day at 5:00 am is kinda big deal to me. past that, i dressed up… tip-top as many would say and started. office was great with all the buildings and gardens. infact i never clicked so many pics at a time before. long lectures, boring discussions, a stupid lunch and a ditched photo session later, i found my way out and started back for the hotel.

what is chennai without trouble?! this is where the day gets interesting. my hotel was in an area called pallavaram or atleast that was what i thought the name was! so i get on a bus to pallavaram only to realize that the journey’s going to be little longer than usual! the bus covered a different route and was way past the area i was supposed to get off. when the conductor broke this to me, i wished i could see my face!! suggestions were coming in from the co-passengers in all directions but not one of them was in a language i understand. so i got off in another stop and where would i even go?! i had this thing blindly in my mind that my hotel was few kilometers down the same road as offices’s but the bus going in a new route, blew it off. i said to myself… ok, notting to worry (actually that was something to worry!), i had survived chennai before, i can do it again! walking  around for a couple of hours did help! thanks to my gps and to its creators, i was atlast home, no hotel!

my top 10 VIT experiences

08 Jun

still cant believe but lets just face it, i am in real world now! things around me now will be for real. its now time to put the things i learnt to action. but wait, what the heck did i learn in fours years of engineering?! well, i really have no idea what college taught me but it really did give a big load of memories that i could cherish for the lifetime ahead. picking a few among them would be a tough job and picking just 10 is mere impossible. still, a while later however, i could gather my 10 best VIT experiences and put them on my blog here. these are those stories that i would tell my kids and their kids and even theirs hopefully!

1) the time when i wrote one exam for another

you must already know about this blunder if you are a regular reader of my blog. if not, start reading now! so it went like this… i went to the exam unprepared (just as any normal engg student!). i, by mistake, took one question paper for another and started writing it, finished it and even submitted to the examiner. it was then i realized that what a fool i could often be! read more…

2) the day with the chennai trip

how often do you have a hundred things to tell about and all just in one night. it was exactly one of those times. i went to chennai in the day hoping to return by evening. but as it turns out… i miss trains, get robbed, get chased by dogs, held by police, screwed by VIT security all in one night! read more…

3) fire in the hole!

well, there was no fire in any hole. but there indeed was fire in my room, G-753. it was ugadi or sankranti or some telugu festival i dont know about when people set fire to stuff in streets. but in this case i tried that in my room! fire, first went out of control but i could eventually manage to put it out. but the smoke triggered the fire alarm. security officials came to check but i narrowly escaped as i swittched off lights, locked up the room and fled away.

4)  caught for copying

dont think cheap of me. i dont copy, atleast i dont get caught that easily! it was in second year and the day of a lab exam. i hardly had prepared. so i was using my phone for copying transferring data to the answer sheet! invigilator caught me, there was some drama. i was preparing my mind to get kicked by lecturers and parents but just then a senior faculty who taught us in first year comes and rescues me making it my luckiest day. and that was the last time i even turned my head in an exam hall ever!

5) something with a celebrity

i already posted something about this. it was something about doing something to some celebrity. the something reaction of the celebrity turned it out to be something really different. i know there are too many somethings here in this something post but the thing itself was something like that. u get something?! read more…

6) the day i almost broke my bones

if you know me, you know that i am kinda risky person. thanks to that, i once stuck myself in the edge of a quarry in such a position that a slip could actually make me fly for a while! i was scared like hell and dint know what to do. just as i was about to wet my pants, my friend came, took out his belt, threw it at me and pulled me out!

7) for the first time

and was the last time too (for a really good reason!)… but coming back to the point, i always had this big doubt about what it felt like when you are high?! so to find an answer myself, i sipped in a few pegs of solution containing hydroxyl fuctional group at a friends b’day party. it tasted like crap, literally. as i was gradually getting high, i was loosing my common sense. at its peak, i pulled my mobile out, dialed the number of a senior who ragged my friends and talked something that as first year student, i should no talk!

8 ) the payback

as i later woke up the next day, i realized what i had done. now as i regained my lost common sense, i could figure out what messing with a senior means. so there were only two things that can be done (1)apologize and (2)run. i choose the second. six months later however, one day i ran into him unexpectedly… and i am not really proud to mention what happened next!

9) the night on the streets of vellore

when our gang goes for a second show movie, it is usually a custom to spend some time on the roads of vellore! on one such occasion, we were accompanied by about 30-40 other students. then came a buss and the driver offered a ride for Rs.10 each. we all got in. but the driver did not take us to the point he actually said he would drop. about thirty student who all seemed to be together started fighting with the driver. myself with my friends just stood there watching the show. they fought for about half an hour and settled for an refund of Rs.30! can you believe? 30 people fought for over 30 mins for 30 rupees! i wonder what they were gonna do next, share?!

10) year of being a day-scholar

i was joined in VIT as a hosteler  and was never allowed to be a day-scholar by my parents. so in the third year i left hostels, took refund and blew the money off. then started the troubles. with the advent of finger-print attendance system, it became impossible for me to sneaking around in the hostels illegally. so i had to take a room outside for real and cook for myself which my parents donno about till date! it was then i realized how difficult cooking is, seriously how do moms do that?!

things i’ll miss after VIT

01 May
i don’t want to sound like a girl here but this completing college thing is really taking me on. the fact that i might never get to see many of my friends ever is so bumming me right now. though they say this opens gates to the bigger things ahead in life, i don’t really know if it is something to be happy about! as its the last week of my engg’ing, i can’t get my mind off thing of that i am gonna miss after i leave VIT. belive me, there’s a hell of it! this might seem little crazy but i really wish i had a backlog that can hold me back a little longer!
to sum up all the stuff i’ll never get to see or do or have again, this is a list of the things i will miss the most about VIT…
  • bunking classes
  • taking a nap in last bench
  • enzo’s chicken puffs
  • south mess’s sambar
  • north mess’s aloo
  • rose milk with ice-cream at the juice shop
  • long walks to class
  • one night study
  • walking around in hostel corridors
  • escape bar’s happy hours
  • movies in raghvendra, anna audi
  • counting number of boogies of trains passing by
  • food of food court
  • walking by the girls’ hostels on way to sjt  (this should be the first in list!!)
  • bargains with autos
  • silly fights with VIT watchmen
  • telescopes, boinoculars in K & L blocks  (if u know why!)
  • roaming in streets of vellore late night
  • cricket bettings
  • cheering for ipl with the opposite team’s fans nearby
  • trips to chittor, chennai, pondy
  • cricket in hostel corridors
  • walking out of examhall soon after signing the attendence sheet
  • sneeking out of class through the back door
  • fighting over the cricket pitch
  • being a VITian!

so much trouble

23 Apr

remember the time i said about how things backfire?! well, this time it climbed a whole new level as my lappy screwed up right the day before my project review. don’t be sorry, i deserve it! like barney once said,”even the greatest shooter often shoots his on own foot!”, it seems i have now joined the streak of the shooters who shot their own foot!

i was just “playing” around in the command prompt when some wrong stroke of a key changed the windows administrator password and locked the computer away. the sad part is that i realized this only after i logged off, too late! i made some calls to hp customer support which din’t help. as suggested by a faculty, i went to the center for technical support at VIT. now, they could not help me but they really impressed me with their equipment and expertize. it was then when i wore a pale face as they were taking turns in examining the situation. since i never created a reset disk or took a backup or maintained a higher administrative account, there was absolutely no way my lappy could be reset without losing the installed data.

at last, i went to this guy at the computer store just outside the campus. he managed to extract all the data out of hard disks and format the computer. i had to lose all the installed software and mainly the installed project i am working on for this final semester. the fact that i recovered the precious How I Met Your Mother episodes actually helps a little! re-installing the project would take some time. i somehow managed this review with the little chunks of source code i had. we have the final review in about a week’s time. let’s see if its enough time to pull things back together.

meanwhile, to all those who are reading this now, i seriously advise, create a password reset disk and save it before you close this page!!

shakti movie review: total crap!

02 Apr
twelve minutes into the movie and then appeared the only reason i went to the movie for, illyana. now, how do i start anything about the movie. firstly, i am really glad to have missed the opppurtunity to catch the movie on its first day which is april 1st, b’coz you see, i don’t wanna be fooled on that day. apperently as it turns out, i did make a fool of myself going to the movie, a day later however. what makes me feel sorry is the fact that this is the highest budget’ed movie in tollywood so far. u might not believe, rgv’s 7 day phreakish attempt dongalmutha, made more sense to me!

i think the director (who already made kantri which i suppose was a kind of pokiri) tried to dress the it up like magadheera this time but mr. meher ramesh, there are only things you can do! similar to magadheera, the shakti had a flash back in the backdrop of ancient egypt. now what i din’t get at all is that the story narrates that the flash back is 27 years ago but as we see,  we get a feel that the story is from centuries ago! mr. director, 27 years ago india had already even won a world cup, its not really that far behind! when i left home for the movie, i had absolutely no expectations and shakti still managed to disappoint me, bravo!!

hearty wishes on april fool’s

01 Apr

i dint realise it is april fools until a little school boy tried to play a fast one on me (i prefer not to mention how it went!). that reminds me of the things i did to people when i was in school. it also kinda gets me into thinking that how the traditon dedicating a day for it and fooling around with people started. anyway, who the heck cares as long as its fun! so, on this aspicious occation of april fools, i would like to wish the following people a great fools day. those lucky ones are…

  • nandamuri fans
  • makers of pavan kalyan’s puli
  • people who don’t read my blog
  • nokia users
  • people in love
  • all IT’2011 batch except C9
  • facebook users who r logged in for hours
  • people who don’t want xperia arc
  • non-android fans/users
  • people who missed the ind/pak world cup semi final
  • 9, 8, 6 and 5  pointers

this is as far i could get the list go. if you think i missed anyone, add them up along with yourself through the comment section!!

praise the lord, xperia arc is out

01 Apr

now i know what my next phone is. for a sony ericsson fan like me, this would be a great day as i got to lay my hands on the much awaited xperia arc. i was in the service center for a problem with my existing xperia mini when i heard from someone working there that arc is out. i jumped out to the showroom beside to have a look at it. oh boy, it was just… (still thinking!).
it had a huge screen which makes it look sort of a tablet and is totally weightless for its size. cool interface, loud volume and did i tell u about the LED display?! well, these are all what i had already known about it. but here’s something that surprised me, its price. as i was expecting it to be not less that 40K, the price of 28,000/- blew my mind! since my old phone is not even three months old, all i can expect from my dad is a finger if i asked him for new one right now! so, few more months and baby you are mine!!!

one for march

31 Mar

when i am lazy, only imagination limits the possibilities! this is one and perhaps the only reason that kept me away from my blog. anyway, its not that anyone would have missed if i were not posting!

for a lazy guy like me, to keep the blog running, there gotta be some strict resolutions. mine for the year is that i would write atleast one post every month. as an attempt to stick to that, here goes my entry for the month of march!

back on facebook

11 Feb

just when i was on the verge of committing to hate facebook forever, out of nowhere, i recieved this email from the fb team about restoring my facebook account (that i screwed up!). this was a total surprise as i had completely given up on that. infact i was about to create a new account later in this week.

having a fb account of my own is important to me b’coz half of my phone’s applications won’t work without it. moreover facebook is the only link i have with many of my old friends so its not worth loosing at all. i was little scared that i might had to start allover from scratch again but thankfully things got right themselves. i now curse the movement i decided to experiment with my account. it was definitely a bad idea but on bright side, now i at least know how crappy the facebook’s security is and how dumb the account recovery processes are!!

wedding bells, ringing!

04 Feb

four already! the count for the marriage commitments i’ve heard till now. i am 21 so i am guessing people around me here should be somewhere near too. a marriage i think, anywhere around this age is little awkward and a bit surprising as well. we are just getting out of college into the real world and i just can’t imagine things getting so much real at once!

the whole wedding whirls around got me thinking of my own fate. surely, there is a long way to go before i might even consider settling down. b’coz.. you see, playing the marriage card is like making the final move. you set the timer off for the countdown to start and everything that follows is quite the same for everyone. so only the life lived before that counts. hence i am gonna live my life up to it before i finally give up. i was also kinda wondering when i get married, what kind of marriage that would be?! love or may be arranged?!! can’t really figure out, let’s wait see which one of that strikes first!!!

thrown outta facebook

23 Jan

often things backfire and sometimes so badly that you may totally end up losing them. this time, it was so with my facebook account! i was just checking on the facebook’s security trying to screw with my own account assuming that everything was under my control. but as it turns out facebook doesn’t like someone flirting with its security policies. i knew, i wasn’t good at flirting anyone but now that extends to anything!

i tried to access my account with a different email account once after establishing my identity. just around then, out of curiosity to understand the security algoms, i poked facebook with my existing email account and that blew everything up. i could not open my facebook account from either of the email accounts anymore. i tried viewing my profile from my friend’s account but it seems that i have totally disappeared from facebook! i wrote an email to the facebook team describing the situation and have been waiting desperately for their response. oh facebook, so much for a little experiment!!!

weird final sem!

19 Jan

i never thought the final semester of the college would be this odd. the days start with an alarm set at 8 am and literally end in an hour! b’coz you see, after i go and sign in the attendance sheet, i am done for the day. there is nothing i have to do for the rest of the day and it is boring as hell. though it is something i would have liked few months ago but now i find, it is completely annoying. at least, if there were many friends around, it would have helped a bit. my four bedded room is completely deserted and i have the other three beds for myself too!!

as always, the entertainment industry has come to my rescue. i am engaging myself in watching movies, serials and every such stuff. there was a time when i used to enquire and take only good movies but now, any movie i haven’t seen in past finds a place in my laptop! i had been watching the same episodes of how i met your mother and big bang theory over and over again but recently i found this new tv show called outsourced, good one. set in indian backdrop its a complete comedy entertainer. only ten of its episodes have come out and i am already digging it!

two movies back 2 ʞɔɐq

16 Jan

two days, two movies. not a big deal but happens quite rarely with me when i am in hyderabad. my vacation lasts only three days this time as i am leaving tomorrow. but i have already made the most of this trip. i watched mirapakai yesterday and anaganaga o dheerudu today.

both of them are good though i liked mirapakai more as for its comedy. there are no many comedians in the movie but still the flick turned out to be a great comedy entertainer. the comedy comprises mostly of punching dialogs by ravi teja. there wasn’t much of a story but you don’t really feel that. comparatively, the other heroin in the second half did good (don’t remember her name!). music composed by thaman was nice.

AOD was great with its terrific cg work. the makers pulled off the movie very well. siddharth, shruthi and lakshmi manchu did their part really nice. the nerve of the movie, i guess was lakshmi’s performance. she did great. the costumes and fights seem to be inspired from the game, prince of persia. what made the movie really interesting was the fact that all of the graphics were done in india and that too in hyderabad alone, isn’t that awesome!

first bummer of 2011!

06 Jan

i was under the belief that this last semester is going to be lite as there was no need to be at the college for the project. but just when i reached college today, i found that there was a change in the programme, damn!!

they not only made attendance  mandatory for everyday but also stated that the attendance should be given early morning, 9 am every day at the site office. i hardly ever woke up for classes at that time! and moreover the minimum attendance is now 85% which is way more than my aggregate attendance for all four years in VIT.  i started having a feeling that this project may not  be going to be that easy!!

Tees Maar Khan movie review

24 Dec

10 seconds into the movie and i already started loving it. 1 hour into the movie, i find myself waiting for the next half to start! the second half wasn’t so long either but that adds up with tits and wits of the most wanted fugitive Tees Maar Khan and pretty much every thing else in the movie. akshay khanna also did a great job that kept the audience rolling. farah gives the climax an oscar touch like that of the film premier in om shanti om. i liked this one. and the heat of sheela ki jawani was just enough to fight this coldest winter of hyderabad since 1946! i don’t remember anything else about sheela as i din’t see her much after that.

using less words, TMK is a great flick. good way to spend Christmas. you’ll love it if u r looking for comedy. go for it and of course… beware of the Tees Maar Khans around you!!

congratulations Cognizant, i am in!

05 Dec

a good news after ages (the last i heard was that puli utterly flopped!). after two days of edging excitement, the covers unveiled throwing Cognizant’s results out as the tightly packed anna auditorium’s roof almost blew off! Cognizant recruited  a whooping sum of 1643. that’s more than the number of eligible students in most colleges. that number also happens to be the world’s highest number of students placed by a company at a single time. i don’t think i can even consider other options. the package is decent and moreover there is no bond so i get to work my way. CTS has a very established R&D department so that glues me on to it more. just can’t wait for the joining date!

done with classes, exams and almost with VIT

01 Dec

i’m already missing them. those last bench moments will never come again. i wish, they have similar last desks in offices!

just gave the last exam of my life (probably). the exam too was a bit unusual. the question paper contained three pages printed on both sides stuffed with stories. on first look, it looked more sort of a newspaper! the unfortunate thing is that they din’t even give an extra time to read the paper!! whatsoever, that ended the exams streak.

since this is the final semester, we won’t be having classes anymore. just pinging the project guide once in a while would be enough. i wonder if i could see the faces of all of my classmates again! most of the time now will be in the hostel (well, i can’t promise that!). here’s the beginning of the climax of the VIT chapter of my life. lets see how thrilling it could get!

gone google!

26 Nov

not a day passed when i din’t think of my future with Google from a month. the most awaited Google’s written test results appeared. huh, destiny plays the same damm game with me, again!

out of the 1200 students that gave the test, Google was merciful enough to select 60 for the further rounds. i sincerely hoped that i might have a shot at that but donno what went wrong. things lately i my life have not been going my way at all. if i ever get to see god, i have a question for him…

if a person can’t get what he wants, why do you make him want that in the first place?!

so much catching up!

24 Nov

so much to write. 32 days since i last posted anything here. i dont see why i stopped filling in my blog in first place? there are many things that are different now from then.

the first one to mention about would be me! i went home in between and when i was to return, i was down with a bad flu for about a week which burned at least 5 kgs! it was a tough time as i was ill and the dates for final review and comprehensive test were nearing. finally when i returned to VIT, i was so badly in shape that my father had to arrange a person to carry me from hyderabad to vellore (not literally!). and you won’t believe, the instant i stepped into college, my health restored. such is the air of VIT!

the second change around me is the change of my lappy. i changed my laptop to hp mini, the cute one. it is slightly bigger than the HTC HD2 mobile and a lot smaller than my last laptop. though there’s one hitch here. the mini runs on the intel atom processor, not so powerful one. but so far so good. the processor is comfortably supporting the use of all the applications the i generally use, except games! in short, change from…
compaq to hp -> good!
amd to atom -> bad!!
motion games to flash games -> sad!!!

and of course the farewell party! i missed the buffet that was arranged that night of the photo session. now don’t ask what photo session?! you know that i am in final year, right? though missed the dinner, i was at the photo session anyhow. the dress code for guys was formals and gals was, i am guessing, sarees. oh boy, i never thought the gals of my batch had so much in them. i suppose its the saree effect that added up!

photoshop can get you a driving license!

23 Oct

true! i had a very bad experience with the vellore traffic police today. the inspector told me to get a licence fast and i obeyed him by getting myself a license fast, how fast?… 1 hour exactly!

that was easy. the moment i returned to hostel, i borrowed my friend’s license, scaned it into my lappy and opened the photoshop. and ½ hour later, by the time i closed Photoshop, my driving license was ready. don’t go by what looks in that one above. except for my name, nothing else in right about me there!!

so far so good

22 Oct

finally the Google day. i had been counting days down for today as it was the day of Google’s campus visit for recruitment. i was preparing all the week like for a supplementary exam. this is one of the rarest moments when you see me study!

the selection process started with a written test with 3/4 questions on the general internet stuff which anyone who spends a decent time on internet can answer. the other 1/4 was aptitude. the good thing is that i nailed the test and the bad thing is, everyone else did that too! i donno why, but i still have a good feeling about this. they said that it would take about two weeks time for them to correct the papers and get back (hopefully, with a good news for me). later at the pre-placement talk, they told about the company and the job profile which only made me slip deeper into love with Google. then there was a little Q/A session where i won a flashy Google badge!!!

if can’t convince, confuse!

21 Oct

is what i followed in my second review of that freaky project i wrote about the other day. it wasn’t tough at all as i was myself very confused with my project. some said the project was right and some said otherwise. i could not decide on one thing to explain about the project.

i had many things revolving in my mind when i started my presentation to the panel. so i threw up everything that was in my mind and… yup, it worked! i convinced  the panel members that the project was correct but complicated and that settled all the freaky stuff that was bugging me from a week. seems, it also made a way for an A!

going google!

20 Oct

not a clue what that title means but what i mean to say here is that the mighty Google is coming to our college for campus recruitment in a couple of days and as a fan, i can’t be more excited. i read the job profile. its is the user operations department that fights the frauds in various Google products to make them efficient and it doesn’t ask for proficiency in programming skills which is something i am terrible at. moreover the job profile states that the students must have experience in SEO and related activities. now thats a good news for me as i have some knowledge of the SEO operations from the webbie stuff i did all of last summer.

so for the first time in years, i have opened my first year books and dusted them for a read. there is absolutely no way i would have opened those things if it wasn’t for Google! i just hope i have a good day that day. you know, i even thought of a status update if i get into this job: my job is to make the best… even better!

brindavanam review: wanted to hate, but loved it

15 Oct

i din’t count how many flies flew inside-out my mouth watching samantha in the first song (such was the theater!). gosh, she was looking smoking hot. one could give her a perfect 10 for what she was. then i din’t see her for a very long time after that but the movie adds up for that loss. it had a good story line and it worked perfectly. kajal was good both in looks and performance. prakash raj and sri hari did great. comedy in second half was nice particularly after brahmanandam enters. the movie brindavanam is definitely a full fledged entertainer. i am not a fan of jr ntr but i should admit that the movie is really good and is certainly the best that came in recent times.

we went to the cafe’ coffee day on the banglore highway after the movie. the place was great but not so was the coffee! i liked it only after emptying five sachets of sugar in my cup. i liked the tag line of the brand, “anything can happen over coffee”. now i don’t know what they mean by that but something really did happen. we fell short of cash for the bill and the cards won’t work! then what?, i had to wait there as my friend went all the way back to chittor to draw some cash from the atm. started back to vellore at 1 am in the chilling wind and made to college at around 2:30 am. great night!!!

freaky project

14 Oct

Intrusion Detection in Wireless Sensor Networks is all i am seeing, hearing, dreaming and even smelling about!

sorry, i din’t introduce you to my project. meet ID in WSN, my 6 credit project. two more important people in the story are my project partner and our guide. all this started the day me and my partner decided to do our 7th semester project on intrusion detection (bad day it was!). we finished almost half the project only to realize  that its was all wrong. well, that part came from our guide!

since then it became a full day routine for me and my partner to hunt down all the people who did any similar project. i extended my search even to forum discussions on internet. till the moment, we have found few people who did a project like ours in the past. but guess what? they all did in the way we started in. i don’t really understand who’s wrong… the people i met or our guide or my time!!!

that’s weird!

09 Oct
i got a call from an anonymous person this evening. she said she was my fan from my blog, funny right? well, for me it was little scary too as her opening line had my family name which not many people know about. so who could she be? i am guessing she is being helped by someone of my family trying to play some prank on me. calling and asking for friendship… classic, never gets old!

look maam, if you are reading this i want you to know that i like pranks too but not when played on me. if there is anything i have done to you in the past and this is some sort of revenge about that… please don’t copy mine, try a different one!!

CAM, i will miss you!

09 Oct

met you for first time around august,2007 and ever since you showed up twice every semester uninvited. i was serious about you in the beginning but later on you were no more than a surprise test. there were days in first year when i started preparation a week in advance. but gradually that preparation time decreased. from a week’s time it slipped to a day’s in second year, an hour’s in the third and to a mere walk’s time from hostel to the exam hall in fourth year.

there were even times when i wrote one subject for another and realized it only after coming out of exam hall. there were also times when i bunked you just for a good night sleep and even had to sacrifice you for some movie’s first day release. hope you understand. it all worth it!

frankly, i think there was never any point in even writing you at all. you hardly ever gave me marks in two digits, i never passed you after first year and my parents still think that CAM marks are out of 20!! whatsoever, i am sorry for treating you so carelessly! i guess it was mutual. nice meeting you CAM, i am gonna miss you!!!

almost another

08 Oct

huh… not even a long time since 26, august when i wrote one exam for another and it almost turned out to be the same today. it was cam-1 then and now its cam-2 this time. from that day on, i started seeing the name of the subject on the question paper first, without fail. i did that even today but seems the m-tech students have a subject with the same name. we had the subject called SPM and so did the m-tech students who shared the exam hall with us. though both of us had the same subject, their syllabus was different from ours. i dint know about this before. i picked up their question paper and found some numerical problems on the paper. that was weird, as we had only theory for syllabus. still as i prepare only half the portion, i almost started off.

but lucky for my habit of a brief discussion with my neighbor in the beginning of every exam, i got to know that i had actually picked a wrong question paper before i started. now, i learnt that just checking the name of the subject isn’t enough!

khaleja review: i am feeling like god!

07 Oct
says so the prince in khaleja… or should i say mahesh khaleja! the talk i heard about the movie this morning was very bad. almost everyone dumped it. can you believe there were people who even compared it with pavan kalyan’s puli. well, i don’t know about you but i surely can’t believe that!! there can not be a worse movie than puli (fingers crossed on brindavanam!).

call me an odd one one out but i feel no shame in admitting the movie is good. infact, i liked the movie very much. may be it was because of the very low expectations i had on it. all i was looking for in the movie were trivikram’s punching dialogs and he did not disappoint at all. there was enough comedy. mahesh looks awesome and perhaps in his best appearance. anushka was as pretty as always. it was good to see prakash raj after a long time. the costumes of mahesh and anushka were great. you must have already heard about the music.
but there was certainly one thing that stuck me. apart from the concept of being called a god, mahesh talks a lot in the movie and with a totally different slang. after all his silent roles in previous movies, you want to see him open his mouth and speak something but when finally does… you wish he din’t!!!

took an additional after 2 years!!!

06 Oct

i don’t clearly remember when i took the last additional in an exam. probably it was in the first year and now after a long time, another in the final year. it is the first time in two years, can you believe?

since i blew the cam-1, i am putting an extra effort for this cam-2. still, i never thought i would be taking an additional at all; it just happened. i was writing and writing when i suddenly realized i was out of paper and i said “maam… additional please”, all the class froze!!!

robo review: technically good; logically stupid

02 Oct

though after giving a tough fight for robo‘s first day’s tickets, i could only settled for the second day’s matinee. the talk about the movie on first day here was very confusing! some said its just average while many said it was fantastic. if what many said was right, the ratings of the movie should be more than just 3½. so i thought, to get a clear picture, i had to do draw it myself!

i feel the movie is a huge success in technical terms. it had high technical values that shankar carved out perfectly. still, the movie missed something. when i tried to compare it with some movies like i-robo and stealth, i found that though it fits in perfectly with them technically, it doesn’t really have a sound logic.

you see, when you make a fiction, you should have a strong base that supports that fiction. robo misses exactly that. the movie is supposed to be a science fiction describing how a robot with feelings deals with everything but it has got something even more than that. every hero or even super hero has limitations and should. its looks good only that way. but rajani seems to be able to do just anything in the movie. that won’t make sense logically. the last half an hour was off the limits. i love physics and shankar broke many laws of physics in the movie. now, how do you expect me to like it?!

chennai, never again!

25 Sep

the day started with a phone call… or the alarm, i don’t remember exactly. little later my friend called me up for help about buying some stuff on ebay. he wanted to buy a mobile. there, in the list of items, i saw a wrist watch with an inbuilt mobile! it was in my mind to have something like that from very long. i had considered having that in the past but the cost then was about 30K but this was only about 6K. though it was a china piece, its applications were immense. all i wanted was a working mobile that can be strapped on to the wrist. i was almost ready to hit the buy it now button when i realized i should have a look at the seller’s profile. i found that he was from chennai, only 2 hours away from where i was.

we had a placement training programme that day for which attendance was mandatory. so i set up a friend of mine to attend that for me when i was away. i packed up and left for chennai at 3 pm supposingly  to return buy 11 pm max.

i first headed for the railway station but missed it by a kilometer. i walked back to the station only to find that there was no train to chennai until 6 pm in the evening. i went to the bus depot and took a bus and reached chennai at around 7 pm. after struggling for about half an hour, i found the sellers address. the movement i saw the thing that brought me to there, i was taken aback! though it resembled the pic posted on ebay a bit, nothing in it seemed special when seen in live. it had a poor interface, loose keypad and a very low quality camera. in few words it was a piece of crap! i din’t want to be rude to the seller so i said to him that i liked it but would come again to buy it. i left thanking the movement i decided to come to chennai and see it for myself before buying. if had ordered it online, i would never be able to forgive myself. i started back to college at 8 pm and the trouble starts now…

i went to the chennai central railway station and enquired about the next train to katpadi station (the station near VIT). the guy in the counter, told me that the train was cheran express on platform no. 10 at 9 o’ clock. i bought the ticket and went to the train and what i see in there?, there was a layer of people sitting on the floor and there was another layer of people standing over them! i wanted to get out of there and take a bus back to college but the chennai’s bus depot was very far away from there and also the train was a superfast so it would get me to college within two hours. i boarded the train it started. after patiently waiting for 2 hours, i find that train won’t stop at katpadi station at all!!

the next station was after 1 hour which sounded something like jagglurpet. i got off the train at 1 am and was going towards the counter to take a train back to katpadi when the platform ticket collector halted me. he asked me the ticket and which i gave him. he said i have to pay a fine of 250 bucks as my ticket was only till katpadi. i tried to explain him how i was misinformed about the train but he won’t listen. right when i was about to pay the fine, he said, “you seem to be a student, so just pay 150 and i’ll manage!”. idiot, i knew exactly what it meant. however, i gave him that as it was saving me a hundred. a train came at 1:45 am that brought me to katpadi station at around 3 am. instead of exiting from the main entrance of the station, i took a shortcut towards the college and ended up on the main road that lead to VIT. there were no autos or buses at that time. i could have walked but there were many dogs at a distance. i waited there for almost half an hour then came few bullock carts. i requested one of them for a lift and reached the college main gate another half an hour later. it was a tough time explaining the watchmen what happened, particularly with the bullock cart ride.

the movement i stepped inside my room, the time was 4:30 am. i din’t even have strength to explain what happened to my friends. i curse the movement in the morning when my friend called me. so much for a help!!!

How I Met Your Mother fever

20 Sep

i am addicted to it! i watch it when i am free, when i am busy, when i am happy and when i am sad. it is like my day doesn’t complete without a dose of it. i have all 5 seasons of it in my lappy without missing a single episode. for over three months i have been watching those episodes over and over again. the more i watch, the more interesting they get. such is the magic of HIMYM.

the greatest news in months is that the season 6 of HIMYM is starting today, 8:00 pm in USA. for this one reason i wish, i was born in america! it may take few more hours before that episode gets into internet for download. a new episode every week from now… ha…ha… ha! just can’t wait!!

pondy trip 2010

19 Sep

there was nothing new left to see in pondicherry as it was already my third time. i had been to pondy in 2008, then in 2009 and now again in 2010 (probably the last). i dint really feel the excitement this time. to make things worse, one of my friends who was with us on the trip, had (actually, did) an accident and wreaked up a brand new rental bike. that costed a huge sum of money and a great deal of patience in explaining that to the owner. and the funny part is, the accused won’t accept his mistake, idiot!

click on the image for more pics

except for that, the rest of the trip was ok. we din’t plan much in advance and that troubled a bit. we went to the auravali beach on the first day. the second day was mostly in the room and the rock beach by the evening. i had plan of a movie but nobody supported the idea. there were mainly three things i learnt from this trip. they are…

  1. plan in advance!
  2. DO NOT ride a bike if you can’t!!
  3. pondicherry is actually Puducherry!!!

bunking graVITas for pondy

16 Sep

graVITas is a technical feast being conducted this weekend in our college. last year’s graVITas experiences were not so sweet so i decided to give it a finger this year and put myself away from that. and meanwhile i would be out getting some air of pondicehrry. its only two hours from here so always a preferred destination. though i have already been to pondy twice before, it never gets old. the best things about pondy for me are its beaches.

verry exited about the trip!!!

got inked!

13 Sep

my friend planted a bug in my head since he got tattooed and that bug was eating the inside of my brain ever since! finally i got relieved of that thing, by getting myself tattooed on my last day in hyderabad of this brief vaccation. i selected the place to be the under side of my left ankle. it turned out to be a really good place to hide the tattoo because i was at home for a full day without getting noticed by anyone at all.

it can be hidden by strapping the watch on it too. well, i know there will be some day when my parents would see that, lets hope that day is far far away. i wonder what their reaction would be???

pavan kalyan’s worst movie

12 Sep

worst would be a very gentle word to describe the movie! omg, i don’t think it even makes sense as a movie. the director s j surya, bloody ****** (pardon my language, i can’t help) made crap and threw over telugu audience. such movies may be accepted in tamil industry but not here. if they don’t understand this fine difference, why do they even come to the industry? and it isn’t just about the director, what happened to the common sense of the power star! was he out of his mind to select this script?

you may think i am little over reacting. but look, if you wait for over a year just to find the movie is a crap and see your favorite star being humiliated, this would not be over reacting at all.

a bummer after 1year:2months:26days:1hour:40minutes

10 Sep

sorry, i lost track of seconds! but what is important here is that i talked to someone after a very long time (actually, i had to!). i don’t really know if i am happy about it or not. however, that came almost as a surprise and what could i talk about??

when someone tells you something and you don’t like it and say no, it is a common courtesy that you should never talk to that someone again. they are called manners!! huh, i was living peacefully assuming i came over all that happened in past but what happened today seems to be putting me back where i don’t want to be.

i guess, i have to start over from scratch again! oh dear… so much for you!!!

another great day

02 Sep

not everyday you find a celebrity online and its only once a while you get to chat with them. today turned out be one such day that i would cherish forever.

the person in this case is a big south indian actress (assuming it wasn’t a fake account!). frankly, i wasn’t ever a great fan of her but from this day i am. after such close encounter, its a great feeling that i am left with which is hard to explain. well i know, they must be seeing hundreds like me every week but hey… its me!

i did something (stupid, of course) that i can never forget and i bet neither would she!!!

samsung galaxy review

01 Sep

i had my hands on the much talked samsung galaxy today as a guy in my class just bought it. i donno how true it is but i heard that it beat sales of iphone in the us. i never believed it… not until today. this phone matches iphone so much in looks that i thought it was an iphone from a distance. most of its interface is inspired from that of iphone but in a better way.

don’t get taken away by that… this phone certainly goes over iphone but has some features that puts it a step ahead of it. what blew my mind off was the live wallpaper that had a life like effect. the camera and video quality is amazing. its light weight and in great shape. what thirilled me was the way to unlock the screen which is by connecting dots. and the best part is, it costs only 27K, way cheaper than iphone.

PAT, i am back!

31 Aug

the long awaited day has arrived. results of the supply exams i wrote few weeks ago are out. atlast i am clear of any backlogs. well, like i said, that was intentional (and stupid too) which costed me a chance in companies that have visited campus so far this year.

since the time i came to college after summer, everyone and everything seems to be talking about placements. for my burden then, i had to slip off in every such conversation but not from now. since its phase two of placements, i am eligible for all the companies comming from now. so dear companies… one at a time please!!!

height of stupidity!

26 Aug

this should be the most idiotic thing i ever did… in fact most idiotic thing anyone ever did!

like i already mentioned somewhere, my cam exam preparation lasts only as long as it takes me walking from hostel to exam hall. it was just like that today too. we had an elective exam which was AI for me. due to the hurry of my last movement preparation i did not bother to check on the seating plan for the day and followed the guy close my number into a room. i asked for the question paper for Btech-IT, choose a place and started giving my exam. i saw that the paper was very easy and general. little later, the attendance sheet came and to my surprise my name was missing on that (that should have been my first clue!). i went out to the control room only to find out that my place was actually in another room. i came back, took my answer sheet and the question paper and went to my actual room and finished my exam there. everything was fine until then…

when i came out from the exam and talked to my friends, it took me a movement to realize that i had in fact answered the DSS question paper instead of AI. it struck as a lightning to me. i was speechless. it all started b’coz i had actually followed a DSS guy into his examination hall and took their question paper. Oh God… wats my future with AI???

no wonder why there wasn’t atleast one question from what i prepared!!!

just switched to firefox 4

23 Aug

as a fan of google i hate to admit this, google chrome sucks!

i had been using chrome for almost an year by now and never had a hitch with it. all was well for so long but suddenly these days, it started troubling very much. it gets stuck up in middle of anything and wont respond for a while. i don’t know if its just with me or so with everyone else. whatever… i liked the new interface of firefox 4 very much and supposed its the time for a change.

firefox 4 seems fine. i am trying to dress it up in the firefox mockups theme which will give it a more chromish look. the only problem i have now is importing all bookmarks & passwords from chrome which is difficult as there is no facility of a direct import provided. i guess, i’ll have to start over from scratch again!!!

made maggi over iron box

20 Aug

ever tried???

neither did i but this is how far hunger takes you! i was damm hungry and i only had a pack of maggi noodles. there was no boiler nor a heater anywhere and all i could find was an iron box. looked impossible at first but hey… its me!

amidst huge mockery i started off by inverting the iron box, placing a steel tumbler over that and let the water in it boil. and then i emptied the maggi noodles and the tastemaker into the water. stirred for a minute and…

finally, my friends, i pulled it off and should i say… maggi never tasted so great!!!

not so happy independence day!

15 Aug

my phone screwed up this evening. seems it had its independence at last. it was a fall of about 8 feet down, which i could have handled comfortably but the poor thing could not! it served me for almost an year. it was a smart, stylish and a tough dude!! it survived severe experiments in my hands even those like flashing. it was going to celebrate its b’day next month but see the irony. my phone was like a trophy for one of my big adventures of all times and that only makes it more special. may its soul rest in peace!!!

i m back!

14 Aug

it was such a busy week, one of the rare times when i work hard. i had been preparing for the supplementary exam which i had this morning. no movies, no serials, no jibber-jabber all the week…….

the subject which i had was a tough one and since it was a supply, there was no other chance. the paper wasn’t so tough but lengthy. so lengthy that in the last hour i just closed my eyes and scribbled like anything (u can understand how that affected hand-writing). i wish the evaluator too closes his while correcting!!!

snowfall @ harshix

07 Aug

now when you visit harshix, do not forget to get into your sweaters since its gonna be snowing here… all the year!!!

right from the movement i saw this on a website (that i am not proud to mention!), i just could not wait any longer to get that on mine. and finally, a few clicks and minutes later i could make it up for my site. its damm cooool!!!!!!

silly status updates!!!!!

02 Aug

some of the status updates in facebook and orkut make me feel very sorry! i don’t understand if they think they are cool or catchy. for instance there was a guy who wrote lyrics of some song which i bet he doesn’t understand. there was another case where someone wrote about some travel experience (trust me, it wasn’t a status update but a full story!). there was again my friend who updated his status in a very funny way and claims to be hacked though i seriously doubt that!

to mark a token of sarcasm for all such people, i have decided to throw around some of the lamest status updates on facebook. i am sure you won’t find any lamer stuff anywhere else. keep checking on my facebook wall…..

hopes alive on e bay

01 Aug

i jumped off my seat as i read this mail. since i flunked in an exam of last semester (actually, that was intentional and turned out to be a big mistake!), i cannot appear for any company’s interview until i clear it off. at the time of exams i din’t expect core companies to be visiting campus so soon. e bay, which is in list of my favorite companies, declared its interview on 05/08 and already shortlisted students. for my current arrear, i was’t shortlisted for the written test… at first. but thanks to my website and all the webbie stuff i started, i may get into the lists for the test. i never thought they would help me this way! e bay is giving chance to students who have experience in web designing, open source development, forum participation and such other stuff.

since results of the supplementary come out only after august, i was counting only on companies visiting beyond that. e bay’s re-consideration was very helpful. now its to be seen how much use i can make of it!
